Inventories can quickly help categorize trees by size, species and geographic locations. Josh, John and Jason will display and discuss their respective tree management software systems. They will discuss different policies and procedures and how to implement them. *Note: Attendees are requested to bring, for display at the meeting, any storm fighting resources they have found to be useful (books, DVD's, website addresses, etc.). Especially welcome would be a copy of your municipality's official Storm Management Plan. Dr. Bastian will review the major pests and disease problems of 2011 and discuss what we may see in 2012. Date: Thursday, April 19, 2012 Speakers: Eve Pytel of Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, Stephanie Adams of the Morton Arboretum and Jim Semelka of the Village of Oak Park Topic: "Hot Topics" in Municipal Forestry Time: 10:00am-12:00pm Location: Mount Prospect Public Works, 1700 W. Central Rd. Mount Prospect Cost: $5 for Lunch Please RSVP: April Toney at iaa@wi.rr.com or 877-617-8887 Eve will update attendees on the results of the Illinois Urban Forest Restoration Grant program that she administers through the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus. She will talk about trees planted and technical assistance funded in 2011, the 2012 grant awards and the possibility of future funding. Stephanie will summarize the results of the 2011 Municipal Ash Management Survey, providing useful information about what Illinois municipalities are doing to manage EAB. Finally, Jim Semelka will update the audience about efforts to clarify when the payment of Prevailing Wages is required on public tree and landscape contracts in Illinois. A guided field tour of the area as it looks now more than 12 years later will be conducted. In addition, City Foresters will discuss EAB in the City of Chicago.

Garden Curator for Baha'i Temple Topic: Tour of Baha'i Temple Time: 10:00am-12:00pm Location: 100 Linden Ave., Wilmette, IL 60091 Cost: $5 for Lunch Please RSVP: April Toney at iaa@wi.rr.com or 877-617-8887 Dave Coulter and senior members of the garden team will lead a tour through the Baha'i Temple's recently renovated grounds. 2012 marks the 100 year anniversary of the temple and a number of renovations have recently been completed. Come walk through the gardens; they have quite a story that will appeal to anyone in the arboricultural/historic preservation world.
