The Demonstration Tree 

Mark Chisholm—two-time world champion of the International Tree Climbing Competition—along with Norm Hall of Autumn Tree Care Experts and Todd Kramer of Kramer Tree Specialists will be conducting two days of hands-on instruction in dealing with rigging forces. A real tree will be erected in the center of the exhibit hall. Take advantage of this opportunity to experience the excitement of live demonstrations. 10.5 CEUs available.

Demonstration-Tree Agenda

Tuesday Oct. 27

9:00-10:00    Reviewing the ANSI Z133.1-2006 standards. We will go over the ANSI requirements that are often overlooked; job briefing, being tied in before leaving the ground and remaining tied in until reaching the ground, 2 hands on a chain saw at all times, wearing chainsaw protection while cutting on the ground and more. 

10:00               Break

10:45-12:00    SRT (Single Rope Technique) ascension. Ascending a single rope is becoming more popular. We will go over the limitations, advantages and disadvantages of this technique.

12:00 noon      Break for lunch

1:15-2:45        Spar Aerial Rescue. Going over the systems the climber can use to expedite this rescue, and the methods available to the arborist rescuer.

2:45                 Break

3:00-4:30        Spar Aerial Rescue continued.  Questions and Answers.

Wednesday Oct. 28

8:30-10:00    Minimizing rigging forces. Demonstrating the different techniques and methods used to minimize forces at the rigging anchor, using multiple rigging points, adjacent trees, mechanical advantage, etc.

10:00            Break

10:15-12:00   Minimizing rigging forces continued Questions and Answers.

12:00            Lunch

1:00-3:00      Rigging the tree down using pulleys and rope friction devices.

*Spanish sessions will be classroom on Tuesday and on Wednesday Spanish instructors will be present to translate rigging forces at the demonstration tree.
